1.  海派

While the etymology may be fairly straightforward (of Shanghai, in the style of Shanghai), it has since come to mean somebody who freely spends or lives large.  This is probably because Shanghai is perceived as China's most chic city, filled with 花花公子s (huāhuā gōngzǐ- playboys) throwing around the big bucks at jewelry shops, car dealerships, restaurants, nightclubs, and the like.  We'll stay neutral on this assessment of the city, but this is definitely a great word for the savvy Chinese learner.
