Interested in learning Mandarin? Jing Ying Institute of Kung Fu & Tai Chi (www.jingying.org), will be offering a fall session of Mandarin Chinese language classes for children and adults at its location in Arnold.

At this open house, you will meet the teacher (Bixia Pan), learn more about the classes, and have the opportunity to ask questions.

Bixia is a positive, energetic instructor; and her teaching incorporates Chinese culture, games, and songs to help students gain a better understanding of the language.

There will be speaking, reading, listening and writing for all levels. Children will learn through stories, songs, games, dancing and crafts. Adults will learn through a fun interactive style, including role playing and practice through different scenarios.

Classes are delivered in a small group setting and will be based on who registers. We recently held a six-week mini-session that was a combination of older children and adults, so the class was adjusted to their needs.

Jing Ying (meaning "best of the best") Institute opened in its present location in November of 2000. Hidden away in an old industrial complex, students will be surprised at how large and well equipped it is on the inside. With 4,000 square feet and 3 separate training areas, there is plenty of room to train. An assortment of heavy bags, pads and other equipment give students plenty of training options.

Specializing in the discipline of the Northern Shaolin Kung Fu system, they offer separate classes for beginner, intermediate and advanced level students. This assures your class time is used most effectively to cover skills appropriate for your level. The well structured and progressive curriculum helps beginners of any ability or fitness level improve and advance.  The regular kung fu program includes classes 6 days a week. A beginner has over 12 classes a week they can attend and students can switch freely between the classes or attend as many as you like without additional cost. As you advance, you have even more classes to chose from. With more than 2 dozen classes offered per week, you can find a program or time that fits your schedule.  There are also 4 sparring classes per week for adults and 1 for children. Discounts are offered for multiple members of the same family and advanced tuition payment.

Stop by their studio to observe or ask about their introductory class. Visit their website for more details about the curriculum and class schedule.
