- Shodo calligraphy
voingiappone has added a photo to the pool:
This is a sample of the kanji written by Kan sensei (a chinese living treasure) hanging on the wall in his house.
The big character is "yumi" (bow)... it resambles areal bow indeed!
The charachteristic of this kind of writing (Guang Dongsheng) is best seen in the line termination portion where the "hane" is written and overwritten many times in the same stroke (which in the japanese shodo is strictly forbidden) obtaining the ideal shape. Of course the "hane" of the yumi character is obtained by a single stroke. It is a wonderful writing style which can produce kanji that look strongest and with an higher impact. I will have to master it! - Ink tablet #4

Last picture of ink tablets. I suppose that these are the oldest of the set as they do not even look black in color... all the color vanished, leaving behind a wonderful sculpture.
Please note the branches of the trees and the clothes. - Ink tablet #3

Yet another Ink tablet I saw in the house of the calligraphy master.
This time is a red ink so it is a very uncommon tablet (the most common are the black and the brownish).
Of course this tablet is as old as the others (here and here) and is hand carved.
