Close-up of an old ink tablet the calligraphy master shown us. He said that it is roughly 1000 years old!! For this reason his house is a national treasure! He has tens of this things.

This ink tablet is even older than this one! It show the dance of a dragon and a phoenix which is of very good omen in the chinese culture (they write 龍飛鳳舞:The dragon fly and the phoenix dances).
Needless to say that all the drawing has been engraved by hand.... (note the feathers of the phoenix tail) - Stamp stone #2

After a long inactivity here on Flickr, mainly due to the amount of work I have to do in the lab, I am back to posting a long series of pictures.
This is the first shot from a set I took on my trip to Beijing. It is a stamp stone with a chinese dragon engraved on the top. Normally these things are 3 or 4 cm wide and 5 cm tall... this is 30 cm wide and at least 1 m tall!!!!! You can see a close-up here. - 長
